Becoming MomStrong is a must have book for any mom. Speaker, author, homeschool mom, Heidi St. John gives wise advice to moms on how to parent our children and equip them with today's culture coming against us and what we stand for at every turn.
Throughout the book, she offers great stories, practical tips, wisdom, and the truth from God's word. What I love about Becoming MomStrong is that Heidi shares honest heart and real life experiences. She writes with passion, wisdom, and with such a pure spirit.
Heidi has a vision for a Momstrong movement rising up and moms becoming strong in the Lord. In reading this book, you will definitely rise up. You will be challenged, you will be stretched, but the Lord will speak to your heart. You are raising a precious generation. I also believe that you will be inspired and encouraged as you read this book as I was. It's a must read.

4 Steps for Contentment in the Middle of a Storm
Every day we are bombarded with messages by social media and every day we see how other people have things better than we do. How many of you have felt this way? You wake up and open your social media app. You glance through your newsfeed, twitter feed, etc and you are hit with images of picture perfect life styles. People post photos of the perfect dinner, date night, perfect kids, and an overall perfect life.
But truth is things aren't always perfect. In fact, they are far from it. Real life isn't full of the perfect pictures of a dinner that turned out fabulous, a perfect wedding, or even perfect children. What you don't see in between are the moments that aren't so picture perfect.
Social media doesn't show us the temper tantrum moments, the burned dinners, the heartache. Social media doesn't show us the moments where people are struggling because we don't like to post those. Those are the heartache moments of life.
If you were to look at my social media you'd see happy times but you'd see struggles as well. Now you won't see screaming children or messy kitchens, but you will see more than a perfect lifestyle. This is because I was taught to be authentic in who I am.
Contentment isn't easy when you are sitting with a bunch of debt, when you are in the middle of a messy marriage, when you are fighting a custody battle that is an uphill battle, or when you get a diagnosis that you didn't think you'd ever receive. Contentment is hard.
But in the Bible Paul talks about contentment in Philippians 4:11, "Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to be content with what I have." Paul then says how he has learned the secret to living in every situation whether he has a full stomach or an empty one.
Ouch those are some pretty powerful words that Paul speaks, he then goes on to say, "For I can do everything through Christ who gives me strength."Paul says later promises in Philippians 4:19, "And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus."
Now it doesn't mean you'll get that brand new Chevy van, that you'll have the most luxurious home. It means that the Lord will take care of your needs.
I had this talk with my children a while back. What is a want and what is a need? The fact that you want to upgrade your Iphone to the latest version isn't a need, it's a want. The fact that you need to pay for food for the week. That is a need. I have seen miracles happen in my life as I have been faithful to the Lord with my finances. I often don't have enough to tithe but I will give just what I have to the Lord. He takes it, uses it, and always blesses my family. I encourage you today to stop trying to keep up with the Jones and TRUST the Lord.
Your heavenly Father has your BEST interests at heart. He wants to BLESS YOU!! He wants you to be content in your journey. True Contentment comes from knowing and following Jesus. This too shall pass is what a friend once told me one day you will laugh about this. You will have a story to tell, you'll be able to bless someone else who is going through what you are. You will see the other side.
It's really not easy and I won't say that it is. You can sit and have what my best friend calls a pity party for yourself. I've had plenty. But after you've had your pity party.
It's really not easy and I won't say that it is. You can sit and have what my best friend calls a pity party for yourself. I've had plenty. But after you've had your pity party.
These are the steps to take:
1. Pray - Give the Lord your situation. He knows your needs and loves you.
2. Make a plan. Sit with a piece of paper. Write out your blessings. Write out your gifts. Write out what the Lord has given you. As you see it unfold on paper, you will see the goodness of the Lord. Right before your very eyes.
3. Give thanks.
4. Bless someone else. Maybe you can't bless them financially but you have a service you can do for them. If they need help cleaning their home, you can do that. You can offer an encouraging word, you can offer to babysit their kids so they can have a date night.
You can be thankful for the people who are seeing prosperity and know the Lord has his Best for you. Just keep trusting in Him!!
I hope this has encouraged you today. Know that God loves you!!
I'd love to hear your comments and thoughts on contentment or even share what the Lord is doing in your life.

Thankful Tuesday on a Thursday
It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord. When you give thanks and have an attitude of gratitude it changes your perspective. In today's world where you hear a lot of bad news every time you turn on the television and the world is spiraling. It's important to remember you have a lot to be thankful for.
I am thankful for my friends and family. I have the best friends and the greatest family. I am going through a storm right now. But the Lord has surrounded me with support and encouragement every step of the way.
Giving Thanks in the middle of your storm will give you a whole new perspective. When you take the time to daily remember that although you are hurting, although things aren't perfect (they never will be), and everything isn't coming up roses. God is still good. Your focus changes. Your thinking changes.
I am currently finishing up my first book. I'm so proud of this project. It's full of Sunshiny Thoughts teaching you to give thanks and look on the sunshiny side of life. If you'd like more information on my upcoming book check out my Facebook page.
I hope you will take time today to count your blessings.
Blessings,
Shawnee

CardzTV Crazy Card Crafters Challenge #6
Hi everyone,
Welcome back for another CardzTV Crazy Card Crafter's Challenge.
If you haven't joined us for one before. Please do so. They are lots of fun. Our themes are Anything Goes. For more information head over to CardzTV
My card today is a Jukebox card
Growing up my in laws would take my older boys for Thursday night day with Grandpa.
My oldest son would listen to Alan Jackson "Don't Rock the Jukebox" which is the inspiration for this card. I also remember growing up listening to the jukebox playing in the corner of the restaurant. I loved having a quarter to pick my favorite song. Times have changed so much because now music is at our finger tips. It's amazing the difference.
My card is from Crazy Cute Cards in Cricut Design Space.
My sentiment is from CardzTV Stamps It's All Good
I love how this card turned out. It's going to be a great gift for a friend of mine who loves music.
If you have a music lover in your house, you might want to make them this card. A few hints be patient when it cuts. The intricate parts took 3 attempts to cut. But after the 3rd one - all was great. The settings on the machine were too much for the paper.
I hope you have a great weekend and that you'll join in our challenge!! Also check out what my design team sisters have for you at CardzTV

10 Steps to The Importance of Self Care and Caregiving
If you read my blog regularly, you know that I am a special needs mom on top of being a mom to eleven (yes they are ALL mine) amazing children. But one of the most important lessons I learned in being a mom and especially a caregiver is the importance of self care.
In the beginning of my journey, I didn't know the importance of this. I would give and give and feel so guilty when I needed to take time for myself or when I felt overwhelmed. But a few years ago, a friend told me that I couldn't take care of the children, if I wasn't taking care of me.
Now there are a lot of things you can do for self care. I have my favorites that help me destress and regroup so I can keep going.
These include:
- Taking a time out - five or ten minutes to regroup and just breathe.
- Going for a walk. Fresh air does amazing things to clear your head.
- Drinking water - when I'm dehydrated I'm cranky. So I need to make sure that I am drinking enough water.
- Reading a book - I love to read. I will often grab my kindle and sit and read. This helps me relax and be able to handle the day.
- Pray - This is my go to. As many of you know, I am a Christian. I believe firmly in the power of prayer. I believe that I can take my needs to the Lord as he wants to know what I am feeling. God knows my heart. He knows what I'm going through. Somehow when I pray I feel peace.
- Listen to Music- I have my playlist of music. I love to listen to Casting Crowns, Tenth Avenue North, Hillsong United, Elevation Worship, etc when I am stressed. My favorite song right now is Chris Tomlin's Good Good Father. I know the Lord is good and I know that He is faithful!!
- Exercise - I'm not the greatest with this one. But it's definitely needed. Take a break and go for a walk. Nature is a wonderful treasure.
- Talk to a friend - often we talk to little people as moms but we need to talk to our friends. Fellowship, reconnect, and sometimes even praying with a friend can reset your mood and your day.
- Take a bubble bath - This one is my favorite one as I love to get different kinds of bubble bath.
- Journal- I have a prayer journal that I write in when I'm upset, happy, lonely, etc. It helps me to get my thoughts on paper. When I do I feel a sense of release and peace.
The important thing to do is take care of you!! In order for me to do this, I keep my things in order. I start my day off with my morning devotional, prayer, and then set my goals for the day. This helps me focus and have peace of mind. As you go through this journey, you'll learn what works for you. Make a note in your self care journal of what this could be.
Be Blessed!!

Happy Father's Day
Happy Father's Day!!
I hope you are having a great Sunday. I know many of us are getting ready for Father's Day!! In our house we are getting ready to celebrate my dad.
My dad is a very hard working man. He gives of himself daily for his family working tirelessly to make sure that all the bills are paid and that we have all we need. I am so blessed that this Father's day I get to spend it with him.
My dad recently lost his wife of 20 years. I feel very bad for him as she was his best friend. However my son and I being here, is helping him smile a little more. I love to hear him come in the house after a hard day at work and ask my son, "What are you doing?" My son grins and laughs. Then he runs into his pappy's arms.

I love to hear him come in the house after a hard day at work and ask my son, "What are you doing?" My son grins and laughs. Then he runs into his pappy's arms.
You know this is a lot like our Heavenly Father welcomes us. The Lord always welcomes us with open arms.
When you think of the story of the prodigal son in Luke 15:11-32 we see that a Father had two sons. A younger son who wanted everything that was coming to him now. This is often how we relate to the Lord. We don't want to wait on his blessings. We want them NOW!!
However, we also see the second son who stayed with his father. He was faithful to him, worked hard. Now while he worked hard the first son who had asked for his blessing NOW - partied hard and he wasted the blessing of his Father. We also often do this in life when we aren't good with our time, our money, and our talents. We throw them away.
However, when famine swept the land. The son went to work for a local farmer in verse 15. The man agreed to let him work and he fed the pigs. Then the son decided that he was going home.
However, when famine swept the land. The son went to work for a local farmer in verse 15. The man agreed to let him work and he fed the pigs. Then the son decided that he was going home.
The son REPENTED of his actions to the Father. He told him that he could be a servant and work for him. However just as God our Father responds to us with open arms so did the Father of the prodigal son.
That's how my dad is with me. I mess up, I make mistakes because I'm human and I'm still learning. But my dad is hero!!
I hope today as you honor your father whether it is your earthly father or your heavenly Father. You remember you are always welcome with open arms. If you don't know Jesus as your personal savior, take time today to open your heart and life to him. You will never be the same again.
Thank you for taking your time to spend it with me today!!

How has your week been? We are winding down from a busy school year.
My kids are so excited to be done with the school year.
We had great teachers this year. As many of you know, I have a few children in special education. My children's teachers all work over time and give their heart and soul to making sure our children get a better education.
So I decided to make a card for Jackson's teacher Ms. Liz.
Liz worked very hard to teach Jackson and had to learn many new things to have him as a part of her classroom. When Jackson was in the hospital, she came and sat at the hospital with me. She tailored the learning so Jackson would learn. Because of her, he was successful.
For this card I used My Scrap Chick. The file is called School Paper Easel Card.
It is such a simple file to put together.
For my sentiment I used CardzTV Stamps Many Thanks and CardzTV Stamps Favorite Phrases.
I love how this card turned out.
I hope you enjoyed this fun project and that you take some time to enter our challenge and bless someone around you today!!

Happy Mother's Day Card Lori Whitlock
Good morning,
Growing up my mom was known for growing a beautiful purple flower called an African violet. My mom would take the leaves, place them in the potting soil, and sit them on our window sill to grow. She would then give them to friends who would admire them. Lots of people ended up with African violets because of my mom.
I used this file by Lori Whitlock. You can find it on her website here. This file was super easy to put together. The hardest part was the white dots I'm going to add pearls later for those.
I hope you have a blessed day!!
Blessings,
Shawnee

Fly Lady Premium App Review
Fly Lady Premium App Review
If you are like me you can sometimes struggle with routine. I don't like to do the same thing every day but I know it is needed to keep my house running smoothly. About eight months ago, I decided to try Fly Lady again. I knew she had a organized way of keeping a home clean. So when I found she had an app for the iPhone I was trilled. When I found the Flylady Premium app in a desperate search for something to help me get better organized.
I knew the tasks of the day that I needed to get done but I struggled with lists laying around the house because someone would take it for their own. So I downloaded the app from the Itunes store.
I am so glad that I did!!
The app opens and you see a Home Screen with From the Desk of Fly Lady.
I love this screen of the app because it has your Morning Musing, Daily Mission, and an Ask Fly Lady question.
Here you will find your outlined Routine for the day.
It includes your Morning Routine, Afternoon Routine, After Dinner/Before Bed Routine, and Weekly Home Blessing hour.
For instance on mine I added Morning Devotions and Prayer. I also added to reload my laundry because of my household size.
The next part of the App is Agenda - What's on your calendar today.
Then a timer - part of FlyLady is setting your timer for 15 minutes and clearing a space. You'll be amazed at what you can accomplish in just 15 minutes a day.
The last part of the app is My Courses. Here you can enroll in courses for FlyLady to help improve your cleaning routine.
I love checking off the activities and seeing what I've gotten done in the day.
This app has been a huge blessing in helping me stay organized, keep my house running, and have my home ready for someone to visit (on most days).
I hope you find this review helpful and you will check out the FlyLady app. With it you can start getting your house in order!!
Blessings,
Shawnee

St Patrick's Day Teddy Bear Parade Card
Happy Saturday!!
Yesterday was St. Patrick's Day. It is one of my favorite holidays because growing up I lived in an Irish town which celebrated St Patrick's Day in style.
When I saw the photos of the recent celebration, I was inspired to create this card.
For this card I used:
An A2 size card
The mat for this card is 5 inches by 3.6 inches

The Chocolate bunny for this card is from Create a Critter 2
The eggs (aren't they gorgeous) are from Easter 2010 cartridgeThe basket is from Create a Critter 2
The grass is from Ribbons and Rosettes
My sentiment is from CardzTV Stamps Toadally Awesome.
I used the sentiment Hop to it. You could also use Hop, Hop, Hooray!!
Now I'll admit when you first look at this set you see frogs. But Bunnies hop, too.
My daughter actually handed it to me. I told her I wasn't making a frog card and then it hit me. It's another reminder to look closely at your stamp sets and just because it says one thing - doesn't mean you cannot use it for another.
Think out of the box!!
I hope you enjoyed this fun card!! Be sure to check out what my design team sisters have created for you. Then link up your project at CardzTV.
Have a Terrific Friday!!

My project is a friendship card. I have been blessed with many people who daily encourage me, support me, and remind me that I am stronger than I think. I created this card with those friends in mind. It also reminds me spring is almost here!!
I love this spring stamp set of Mary's. The bees are so adorable and the flower pot is perfect for those thinking of you cards or even a Get Well Card.
In addition to the bee, I used the sentiment Friends are flowers in the garden of life.

Blooming Layers Easel Card - My Scrap Chick
Happy Sunday!!
I hope you had a great weekend. I love Sunday because it is a relaxing day and because I love to spend time with my family. Spring is right around the corner so today's card is inspired by that.
My Scrap Chick has some great new easel cards that you definitely want to check out if you have a baby shower, birthday, want to celebrate spring, or just because.
My card today is the Blooming Layers Easel card. This card was very easy to put together. I love how the layers pop up. My sentiment is from CardzTV Stamps Favorite Phrases.
It is on sale while supplies last at CardzTV Stamps.
Favorite Phrases is my new go to stamp set. I love how you can use the sentiments on almost every project.
I accented the card with a few small pink flowers and pearls from my stash. It is the perfect addition to this bright and cheery card.
